Built for the Minnesota Climate
Concrete in Minnesota lives or dies by how it's installed. Our freeze-thaw cycles — where water seeps into concrete, freezes, expands, and thaws again, over and over all winter — are what cause the cracking, heaving, and spalling you see on poorly poured slabs and driveways.

Proper base preparation
A compacted, well-drained aggregate base so water doesn't sit and heave under your concrete.

Adequate depth and reinforcement
the right thickness, plus rebar or wire mesh where the load calls for it.

Control joints
placed correctly so concrete cracks where we want it to, not randomly across your driveway.

Air-entrained concrete mixes
designed to handle repeated freezing and thawing without breaking down.

Footings below the frost line
for steps and structural work, so winter ground movement doesn't push your concrete out of place.
This is the difference between concrete that looks good for a season and concrete that lasts for decades.

FAQ
A properly installed concrete driveway typically lasts 30 years or more, even in our climate — as long as it has the right base, reinforcement, control joints, and an air-entrained mix. Poor installation is the number-one reason driveways fail early here.
Late spring through early fall is ideal, when temperatures are consistently above freezing for proper curing. We can pour outside that window with cold-weather techniques, but the warmer months are the sweet spot.
It depends on your city and the project. Driveways and structural work often require a permit, while simple replacements sometimes don't. We handle permitting for you when it's required.
Some hairline cracking is normal as concrete cures, but major cracking usually comes from a poor base, missing reinforcement, or control joints that weren't placed correctly. Proper installation prevents the kind of cracking that actually matters.
Yes. We handle everything from home driveways and walkways to commercial flatwork, parking areas, and ADA approaches.
